Relief Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit Relief Stitch:

Work with a multiple of 5 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 18 stitches (3 + 5 + 5 + 3 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows Right Side rows and Wrong Side rows.

The numbers at right edge of chart indicate Right Side rows, and at left edge  Wrong Side rows.

Read Right Side rows from right to left, Wrong Side rows from left to right.

The patt rep = 5 sts wide.

k: knit

p: purl

Row 1 (RS): edge st, k1, p2, * k3, p2 *; repeat from * to *; ending with k3, edge st.

Row 2 (WS): edge st, p3, * k2, p3 *; repeat from * to *; ending with k2, p1, edge st.

Row 3: edge st, k3, * p2, k3 *; repeat from * to *; ending with p2, k1, edge st.

Row 4: edge st, p1, k2, * p3, k2 *; repeat from * to *; ending with p3, edge st.

Repeat these 4 rows for pattern.
