Tunic in Lace Pattern

Size: 10 (US 6).

Materials:

Yarn: 400 g (30% Wool, 70% Cotton, yardage = 165 m/50 g); one pair each sizes 6 and 8 (4 and 5mm) needles, one circular needle size 6 (4mm), one set (5) size 6 (4mm) double-pointed needles (dpns).

Reverse stockinette stitch in rnds: purl all sts.

Half Patent Stith: odd number of sts.

Row 1 (Wrong Side): edge st, * K1, slip 1 st with yo together pwise *; repeat from * to *, ending with K1 and edge st.

Row 2 (Right Side): edge st, * P1, knit stitch with yo together *; repeat from * to *, ending with P1 and edge st.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for pattern.

Lace Pattern:

Work according to chart. Only RS rows are shown.

On Wrong Side rows, work all sts as they appear, purl yo's.

Repeat Rows 1-28 throughout.

Gauges:

15 sts and 21 rows to 10 cm over lace pattern on 4,5 mm needles.

Back:

Using needles size 4 mm, cast on 75 sts and work 10 rows in Half Patent for border.

Change to US 8 (5 mm) needles and work in Lace Pattern as foll: Begin with 1 edge st and sts before patt rep, work patt rep 3 times, end with sts after patt rep and 1 edge st.

After 84 rows (= 3 complete repeats), begin increasing for the sleeves.

For the sleeve shaping, increase at each end 1, then 1 st every 6th row 3 times, 1 st every 4th row 3 times, then on every 2nd row 2 sts twice, 3 sts twice, 4 sts twice, 5 sts once, 6 sts once, 7 sts once and 8 sts once, working increases into pattern.

Begin the first sleeve with 1 edge st and sts before patt rep, end the second sleeve with sts after patt rep and 1 edge st.

Neck Shaping: After 24 rows of Lace Pattern, bind off center 29 sts and complete both sides separately.

For inner rounding at neck edge bind off on next 2nd row 3 sts once.

Bind off the remaining shoulder and sleeves sts.

Front:

Work like back, but with deeper neckline.

Neck Shaping: After 14 rows of Lace Pattern, bind off center 19 sts and complete both sides separately.

For rounding at inside edge, bind off on every 2nd row 3 sts twice and 2 sts once.

On Row 4 from neck, bind off the remaining 59 shoulder and sleeves sts.

Finishing:

Close shoulder, side and sleeve seams.

For the Sleeve Cuff, with dpns, pick up 32 sts along the edge of the sleeve and work in Half Patent for 10 rows.

Sew side seams.

For the Neck Band, with circular needle, pick up 74 sts evenly around neck edge and work 3 rnds in Rev St st, bind off all sts knitwise.
