Leaf Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit Leaves Stitch:

Multiple of 6 + 5 + 2 edge sts.

Cast on 13 sts (2 + 6 + 3 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only RS rows.

On WS rows, work sts as they appear and yo's P.

On Rows 8 and 16, knit all sts.

The pat rep = 6 sts wide.

The number of stitches varies within 16 rows of pattern repeat.

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch

inc5: make 5 sts (k1, yo, k1, yo, k1) into 1 st

sk2p: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 2 together and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted together stitches

Row 1: edge st, p2, * inc5, p5, repeat from * to last 4 sts, inc5, p2, edge st.

Row 3: edge st, p2, k2, * k3, p5, k2, repeat from * to last 6 sts, k3, p2, edge st.

Row 5: edge st, p2, skpo, * k1, k2tog, p5, skpo, repeat from * to last 6 sts, k1, k2tog, p2, edge st.

Row 7: edge st, p2, * sk2p, p5, repeat from * to last 6 sts, sk2p, p2, edge st.

Rows 8 and 16: knit all sts.

Row 9: edge st, p2, * p3, inc5, p2, repeat from * to last 4 sts, p3, edge st.

Row 11: edge st, p2, * p3, k5, p2, repeat from * to last 4 sts, p3, edge st

Row 13: edge st, p2, * p3, skpo, k1, k2tog, p2, repeat from * to last 4 sts, p3, edge st.

Row 15: edge st, p2, * p3, sk2p, p2, repeat from * to last 4 sts, p3, edge st.

Repeat Rows 1-16 throughout.
