Lace Diagonal Stitch Knitting Pattern

Work with a multiple of 20 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 23 stitches (20 + 1 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only Right Side rows.

On Wrong Side Rows, purl all the stitches and yarn-over loops.

The pattern repeat = 20 stitches wide.

Begin with 1 edge stitch, work patt repeat throughout, end with 1 stitch after patt and 1 edge stitch.

yo: yarn over

cdd (Central Double Decrease): slip first and second stitches together as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch

Rows 1, 3 and 5 (right side): edge st, * k17, yo, cdd, yo *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge st.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): purl all the stitches and yarn-over loops.

Rows 7 and 9: edge st, * k4, (k1, yo, cdd, yo) 4 times *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge st.

Rows 11, 13 and 15: edge st, * k5, yo, cdd, yo, k12 *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge st.

Rows 17 and 19: edge st, * (k1, yo, cdd, yo) twice, k4, (k1, yo, cdd, yo) twice *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge st.

Rows 21, 23 and 25: edge st, * k13, yo, cdd, yo, k4 *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge st.

Rows 27 and 29: edge st, * (k1, yo, cdd, yo) 4 times, k4 *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge st.
