Knitted Jumper for Children
Sizes: 116/122 (140/146) or 6-7 (10-11) years.
Materials:
Yarn: 300 (350) g (100% Cotton, yardage = 125m/50 g); one pair quick knit needles and one circular needle, both size 3,5mm (US 4).
Garter stitch: Knit on RS and WS rows.
Lace Pattern:
Work with a multiple of 16 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to chart. Only Right Side rows are shown.
On Wrong Side rows, work all stitches as they appear, purl yarn over loops.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and stitches before patt rep, work patt rep throughout, end with stitches after patt rep and 1 edge stitch.
Repeat Rows 1-32 throughout for pattern.
Gauges:
over lace patt: 23 stitches and 38 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Back:
Cast on 89 (115) stitches and work 0,5 cm = 2 rows in garter stitch.
Continue to work in Lace Cable Pattern.
For the Neck Shaping, after 36 cm = 136 rows (40 cm = 152 rows) from border, bind off center 15 (19) stitches and complete both sides separately.
For rounding at inside edge, bind off on every 2nd row 4 stitches once, 2 stitches once and 1 stitch once.
When work meas 38 cm = 144 rows (50 cm = 160 rows) from border, bind off remaining 35 (41) shoulder sts each.
Front:
Work like back, but with deeper neckline.
When work meas 32 cm = 122 rows (36 cm = 138 rows) from border, bind off center 11 (15) stitches and on every 2nd row bind off 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 stitch 4 times.
Sleeves:
Cast on 35 stitches and work 0,5 cm = 2 rows in garter stitch.
Continue to work in Lace Cable Pattern.
At same time, for the sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch each side every 4th row 28 (30) times, working inc stitches into Pat = 91 (95) stitches.
When work measures 30 cm = 114 rows (33 cm = 126 rows) from border, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Sew Shoulder seams.
Neckband: Using circular needle pick up 80 (88) stitches along neckline and work in garter stitch for 2 cm.
Then bind off all stitches.
Set in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
