English Rib Stitch Knitting Pattern

Work with a multiple of 24 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 27 stitches (24 + 1 + 2 edge stitches). 

The chart shows Right Side rows and ome Wrong Side rows.

The numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows, and at left edge WS row.

Read Right Side rows from right to left, Wrong Side row from left to right.

The pattern repeat = 24 stitches wide.

k: Knit

kyotog: Knit stitch with yo together

slstwithyo: make 1 yarn over, pass 1 stitch over on the right needle purlwise. On WS row, knit this st with yo together

Cr3 left: slip stitch with yarn over to cable needle and hold to front, slip foll stitch to 2nd cable needle and hold to back, knit stitch with yarn over together, then make yarn over and slip stitch from 2nd cable needle to right needle, knit stitch with yarn over together from 1 st cable needle

Row 1 (right side): edge stitch, * slstwithyo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; slstwithyo, edge stitch.

Row 2 (wrong side): edge stitch, kyotog, * slstwithyo, kyotog *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.

Row 3: edge stitch, * slstwithyo, kyotog *; repeat from * to *; slstwithyo, edge stitch.

Row 4 and all even-numbered rows: work as for Row 2.

Row 5: edge stitch, * (slstwithyo, kyotog) twice, slstwithyo, Cr3 left, (slstwithyo, kyotog) 8 times *; repeat from * to *; slstwithyo, edge stitch.

Row 7: edge stitch, * slstwithyo, kyotog, (slstwithyo, Cr3 left) twice, (slstwithyo, kyotog) 7 times *; repeat from * to *; slstwithyo, edge stitch.

Row 9: edge stitch, * (slstwithyo, Cr3 left) 3 times, (slstwithyo, kyotog) 6 times *; repeat from * to *; slstwithyo, edge stitch.

Row 11: work as for Row 7.

Row 13: work as for Row 5.

Row 15: work as for Row 3.

Row 17: edge stitch, * (slstwithyo, kyotog) 8 times, slstwithyo, Cr3 left, (slstwithyo, kyotog) twice *; repeat from * to *; slstwithyo, edge stitch.

Row 19: edge stitch, * (slstwithyo, kyotog) 7 times, (slstwithyo, Cr3 left) twice, slstwithyo, kyotog *; repeat from * to *; slstwithyo, edge stitch.

Row 21: edge stitch, * (slstwithyo, kyotog) 6 times, (slstwithyo, Cr3 left) 3 times *; repeat from * to *; slstwithyo, edge stitch.

Row 23: work as for Row 19.

Row 25: work as for Row 17.

Work Rows 1-26 once, then repeat Rows 3-26 throughout.
