Cross Stitch Cable Knitting Pattern

How to knit Cross Stitch:

Work with multiple of 13 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 16 stitches (1 + 13 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows Right Side and Wrong Side rows.

The numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows, and at left edge WS rows.

Read RS rows from right to left, WS rows from left to right.

The patt rep = 13 sts wide.

Begin with 1 Wrong Side row.

 

slip wyib: slip 1 pwise, leave yarn at back of work

slip wyif: slip 1 pwise, leave yarn at front of work

2-st RT: knit 2nd st before first st, without dropping from LH needle, knit the first st, drop both sts from LH needle

C4Fp: slip 1 st to 1st cable needle and hold in front; slip 2 sts to 2nd cable needle and hold in back; K1; then P2 from 2nd cable needle and K1 from 1st cable needle

C4Bp: slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold in back; K1 from left needle; transpose the order of the first and follow 2 sts on the cable needle and P2 and K1 from cable needle

 

Set-up Row 0 (WS): edge st, * (p1, k2) twice, p2, k2, p1, k2 *; repeat from * to *, p1, edge st.

Row 1: edge st, slip wyib, * p2, k1, p2, 2-st RT, p2, k1, p2, slip wyib *; repeat from * to *, edge st.

Row 2: edge st, * (p1, k2) twice, p2, k2, p1, k2 *; repeat from * to *, p1, edge st.

Row 3: edge st, slip wyib, * p2, slip wyib, p2, slip wyib twice, (p2, slip wyib) twice *; repeat from * to *, edge st.

Row 4: edge st, p1, k2, slip wyif, k2, slip wyif twice, k2, slip wyif, k2 *; repeat from * to *, p1, edge st

Row 5: edge st, slip wyib, * p2, C4Bp, C4Fp, p2, slip wyib *, repeat from * to *, edge st.

Row 6: edge st, * (p1, k2) twice, p2, k2, p1, k2 *; repeat from * to *, p1, edge st.

Work rows 0-6 once, then rep rows 1-6 throughout.
