Sweater with Cables

Sizes: 10/12 (US 6/8).

Materials:

Yarn: 300 g (50% Wool, 50% Acrylic, yardage = 220 m/100 g); 1 pair quick knit needles and one circular needle, both size 4 mm (US 6).

Reverse stocking stitch (Rev st st): Work RS rows P and WS rows K.

Rib Pattern: alt K1, P1.

Cable Patt 1: foll Chart 1.

Cable Patt 2: foll Chart 2.

Gauge: 15 sts and 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back:

Cast on 78 sts and work as foll: selv st, P8, 20 sts in Cable Patt 1, 20 sts in Cable Patt 2, 20 sts in Cable Patt 1, P8, selv st.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 35 cm from beg, bind off 4 sts once and 2 sts once at each end on foll 2nd row.

Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 49 cm from beg, bind off center 24 sts and complete both sides separately.

For rounding at inside edge, bind off 3 sts once on foll 2nd row.

When piece measures 51 cm from beg, bind off rem shoulder sts.

Complete to match first side of neck, reversing all shaping.

Front:

Work like back, but with deeper neckline.

When piece measures 46 cm from beg, bind off center 20 sts and complete both sides of neckline separately.

For rounding at inside edge bind off on every 2nd row 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st once.

When piece measures 51 cm, bind off rem shoulder sts.

Complete to match first side of neck, reversing all shaping.

Sleeves:

Cast on 44 sts and work as foll: selv st, P11, 20 sts in Cable Patt 1, P11, selv st.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

When piece measures 35 cm from beg, work all sts in Rev St st.

Cap Shaping: When piece measures 47 cm from beg, at both ends bind off 4 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st 11 times on every 2nd row.

When piece measures 60 cm, bind off rem sts.

Finishing:

Sew shoulder and side seams. Sew in sleeves and work sleeve seams.

Collar: With circular needle, pick up 92 sts evenly around neck edge and work in rnds in Rib Patt.

When collar measures 22 cm, bind off in rib.
