Sweater in Fancy Pattern with Cables

Sizes: M-L

Materials: 

Yarn: 600 g (100% Wool; yardage = 100 g/300 m); quick knit needles and 1 circular needle, both size 2.5 mm (US 1.5).

Rib Patt: K3, P3.

Cable Pattern:

Work according to chart 1. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Repeat rows 1-6 throughout.

Fancy Pattern:

Work according to chart 2. RS and WS rows are shown.

Read RS rows from right to left, WS rows from left to right.

Work Rows 1-44 once, then rep rows 17-44 throughout.

Gauge: 27 sts and 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back: 

Cast on 113 sts and work as foll: selv st, * 12 sts in Cable Pattern, 21 sts in Rib Pattern, rep 3 times from *, 12 sts in Cable Pattern, selv st. 

After 10 cm, work 21 sts in Fancy Pattern over each rib stripe. 

Armhole Shaping: When work measures 40 cm from beg, bind off 8 sts on either side = 97 sts. 

When work measures 60 cm from beg, bind off all sts.

Front: 

Work as given for back. Shape neckline: After 57 cm from beg, bind off center 21 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row, bind off 5 sts once, 3 sts once and 2 sts once. 

When work measures 60 cm from beg, bind off rem 28 sts each side for shoulders.

Sleeve: 

Cast on 47 sts and work as foll: selv st, 12 sts in Cable Pattern, 21 sts in Rib Pattern, 12 sts in Cable Pattern, selv st. 

After 10 cm, work in Fancy Pattern over center 21 sts of rib. 

For sleeve shaping, after 8 cm from beg, inc 1st on each side on every 4th row 20 times and on every 6th row 10 times = 107 sts.

Work new sts acc to patt. 

When work measures 57 cm from beg, bind off all sts. 

Rep for other sleeve.

Finishing: 

Sew shoulder seams. 

Using circular needle, pick up 114 sts evenly around neckline edge from WS and work in rnds in Rib Pattern. At the same time, work 12 sts in Cable Pattern in the middle of back and front.   

When piece measures 20 cm, bind off all sts loosely as they appear. 

Sew side seams, sleeve seams and set in sleeves.
