Pullover with Cables

Size: 8/10 (US 4/6)

Materials: 

Yarn: 500 (550) g; one pair quick knit needles size 4 mm (US 6) and one circular needle size 3.5 mm (US 4).

Stockinette stitch (St st): Work RS rows K and WS rows P.

Reverse stocking stitch (Rev st st): Work RS rows P and WS rows K.

Basic Pattern: * 3 sts in Rev st st, 3 sts in St st, rep from *.

Cable Pattern (over 6 sts):

Rows 1-6 + Row 8: St st.

Row 7: Sl 3 sts to cn and hold to front, K3, K3 from cn.

Repeat Rows 1-8 throughout.

Pattern over 39 sts with right shift: 

Work according to chart 1. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, knit yos.

Repeat Rows 1-38 throughout.

Pattern over 39 sts with left shift: 

Work according to chart 2. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, knit yos.

Repeat Rows 1-38 throughout.

Center Pattern over 96 sts: 6 sts in Cable Pattern, Pattern over 39 sts with right shift, 6 sts in Cable Pattern, Pattern over 39 sts with left shift, 6 sts in Cable Pattern. 

Sleeve Pattern: * 21 sts in Basic Pattern, 6 sts in Cable Pattern, rep from *.

Front:

Long-tail cast on 126 sts + 2 selv sts and work as foll: selv st, 15 sts in Basic Pattern, 6 sts in Cable Pattern, 39 sts acc to chart 1, 6 sts in Cable Pattern, 39 sts acc to chart 2, 6 sts in Cable Pattern, 15 sts in Basic Pattern, selv st.   

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 32 cm from cast on, at each end bind off 4 sts once, 3 sts twice, 1 st 3 times on every 2nd row. 

Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 52 cm from cast on, bind off center 12 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at neckline edge bind off 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st twice on every 2nd row, then 1 st twice on every 4th row. 

For shoulder slants, when piece measures 60 cm from cast on, bind off 12 sts twice at both ends on every 2nd row. 

Then bind off remaining sts.

Back:

Work same as front, but for neckline, when piece measures 57 cm from cast on, bind off centre 18 sts and finish both sides separately.

For rounding at inside edge bind off 3 sts twice on every 2nd row.

Sleeves:

Long-tail cast on 48 sts + 2 selv sts and work as foll: selv st, 21 sts in Basic Pattern, 6 sts in Cable Pattern, 21 sts in Basic Pattern, selv st.  

At the same time shape sleeve slants: at both ends inc 1 st on every 10th row. 

Cap Shaping: When piece measures 44 cm from cast on, at each end bind off 4 sts, and on every 2nd row bind off 2 sts 4 times, 1 st 8 times, 2 sts once, 3 sts 4 times and 4 sts twice. 

When piece measures 61 cm from cast on, bind off rem sts.

Finishing:

Close shoulder seams.

Collar: With circular needle, pick up 90 sts evenly around neck edge and work alt K3, P3 distributing pattern so as to cont Rib Patt stripes, and also cont Cable Pattern in the middle of front and back. 

When collar measures 6 cm from beg, bind off in pat.

Sew side and sleeve seams. 

Sew in sleeves slightly easing them in.
