Pullover with Cable Pattern

Size: 10 (US 8).

Materials:

Yarn: 400 g (50% Wool, 50%% Acrylic, yardage = 200 m/100 g); one pair each 4mm (US 6) and 5mm (US 8) knit needle and one circular needle size 4 mm.

Rib Pattern 1/1: K1, P1 Rib.

Rib Pattern 3/3: K3, P3 Rib.

Cable Pattern:

Work according to chart. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Repeat from * to *.

Gauges:

over cable patt using 5 mm needles: 22 sts and 18 rows = 10 x 10 сm.

Back:

Using needles size 4 mm, cast on 111 sts and work in rib patt 1/1.

When piece measures 6 cm from beg, change to 5 mm needles and work in Cable Pattern.

When piece measures 16 cm from beg, continue in Rib Pattern 3/3.

For the Neck Shaping, after 50 cm from beg, bind off center 29 sts and complete both sides separately.

For inner rounding, bind off on every 2nd row 5 sts 4 times at neck edge.

When piece measures 56 cm from beg, bind off all sts.

Front:

Using needles size 4 mm, cast on 111 sts and work in rib patt 1/1.

When piece measures 6 cm from beg, change to 5 mm needles and work in Cable Pattern.

For the Neck Shaping, after 34 cm from beg, bind off center stitch and complete both sides separately.

For neck slants, after 18 sts from the neck edge, decrease 1 stitch every other row 14 times on the inside.

Work 15 sts from the neck edge in Pib Pattern 3/3, work remaining stitches in pattern.

When piece measures 56 cm from beg, bind off 24 sts for shoulders, work 17 sts along the neck edge 7 cm more and bind off all sts.

Shape Sleeve:

Using needles size 4 mm, cast on 57 sts and work in rib patt 1/1.

When piece measures 9 cm from beg, change to 5 mm needles and work in Cable Pattern.

Sleeve Shaping: increase 1 stitch each side every other row 5 times, then 1 stitch every 4th row 13 times = 109 sts.

At same time, when piece measures 20 cm from beg, work only the central Cable of the pattern, and work the remaining sts in Pib Pattern 3/3.

When piece measures 43 cm from beg, bind off all sts.

Finishing:

Close shoulder seams.

Sew the back seam of the front neck strips and sew to the back.

Using circular knitting needles, pick up 167 sts along the neckline and work in Rib Pattern 1/1, work all rows with Central Double Decrease (slip first and second stitches together as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch) in the center of the neckline.

When neckband meas 3 cm, bind off all sts.

Sew sleeves on both sides 26 cm from the shoulder seam.

Sew sleeve seams.
