Buckle Collar Jacket

Sizes: 8/10 (US 6/8).

Materials:

Yarn: 450 g (50% Wool, 50% Acrylic, yardage = 100g / 210m); 1 pair quick knit needles size 3 mm (US 3); 8 buttons of 1.5-2 cm in diameter.

Rib Pat: K2, P2 Rib.

Double (hollow) Rib Pat: even no of sts.

Row 1: K1, P1.

Row 2 and all further rows: K1, sl 1 wyif.(=Slip a stitch from the left needle to the right one without knitting it. The working thread remains in front of the needle (at the front)).

Stockinette stitch (St st): K RS rows; P WS rows.

Basic Pattern:

Cable Patt with Seed Stitch: foll chart.

Gauge:

in pattern acc to chart: 18 sts and 21 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

In St st: 15 sts and 19 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back:

Cast on 82 sts and work in Basic Pattern: selv st, 16-20 sts once, rep 1-20 sts 3 times, 1-15 sts once, selv st.

For the Armhole Shaping, after 38 cm from beg, bind off at each end 5 sts once, then on every 2nd row 1 st twice = 68 sts.

For the Neckline Shaping, when work meas 55 cm from cast on, bind off center 18 sts and complete both sides separately.

For rounding at inside edge bind off 2 sts twice and 1 st once on every 2nd row.

When piece measures 58 cm from beg, bind off rem 20 shoulder sts.

Right Front:

Cast on 37 sts and work in Basic Pattern: selv st, 1-20 sts once, 1-15 sts once, selv st.

For the left Armhole Shaping, after 34 cm from beg, bind off 5 sts, then on every 2nd row 1 st twice = 30 sts.

For the Neckline Shaping, after 51 cm from beg, bind off 6 sts on the right, then on every 2nd row 1 st 4 times.

When piece measures 58 cm from beg, bind off 20 shoulder sts.

Left Front: Work in reverse.

Sleeve:

Cast on 32 sts and work 32 rows in Basic Pattern: selv st, 6-20 sts once, 1-15 sts once, selv st.

Cont in St st, inc 4 sts evenly across the 1st row = 36 sts.

For the sleeve shaping inc 1st on each side on every 6th row 6 times = 48 sts.

Shape sleeve cap: When work meas 38 cm from beg, bind off on every 2nd row 4 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st 3 times, on every 4th row 1 st 5 times, on every 2nd row 1 st once, 2 sts once and rem 14 sts once.

Rep for other sleeve.

Finishing:

Sew shoulder seams.

Neck Band: Pick up 70 sts evenly around neck edge from RS and work 12 cm in Rib Patt. Bind off sts.

Front Band: Pick up 70 sts evenly around vertical front edge and neck edge from both RS and WS and work 6 rows in Double Rib Patt, then cont in Rib Patt while k2tog across one row.

After 5 cm inc 1 st on every other stitch (M1 tbl from strand between sts) and work 6 rows in Hollow (double) Rib Patt. Bind off sts while working them pairwise without tightening.

While working in Rib Patt on Right Front, make 8 buttonholes evenly spaced in the center.

Sew side seams, sleeve seams and set in sleeves.

Sew on buttons on Left Front.
