Vertical Striped Hat

Head circumference approx 54-56 cm

Materials:

80 g Alize Lana Gold Classic (49% Wool, 51 % Acrylic, 240 m/100 g); one set size 4 (3.5mm) double-pointed needles (dpns), one 6 (4mm) circular knitting needles, OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

Rib Pattern in Rnd: K1, P1 Rib.

Relief Stripes in Rnds:

Rnds 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6: * P1, K5, P1, repeat from * around.

Rnd 3: * P1, make 1 Knit (= insert needle into st below st on right needle, knit this st), K1, purl 3 sts together, K1, make 1 Knit (insert needle into st below st on right needle, knit this st), P1, repeat from * around.

Work Rnds 1 - 6 once, then repeat Rnds 3 - 6 throughout.

Gauge: 21 sts and 32 rnds = 10 x 10 сm.

Instuctions:

With circular needle, cast on 98 sts + 1 st for joining and join to work in the rnd, then work 10 Rdns in Rib Patt.

Cont to work in Relief Stripes.

Starting with Rnd 42 from border, beg decreasing:

Rnd 43: * P1, K1, P3tog, K1, P1, repeat from * around = 70 sts.

Rnds 44-46: * P1, K3, P1, repeat from * around.

Rnd 47: * P1, P3tog, P1, repeat from * around = 42 sts.

Rnds 48-50: * P1, K1, P1, repeat from * around.

Rnd 51: * K1, P2tog, repeat from * around = 28 sts.

Rnd 52: *K1, P1; repeat from * around.
