Twisted Stitches Knitting Pattern

Work with a multiple of 6 stitches + 4 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 18 stitches (6 + 6 + 4 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only Right Side Rows.

On Wrong Side Rows, work sts as they appear.

The pattern repeat = 6 stitches wide.

Horizontally, begin with 1 edge stitch, work patt rep throughout, end with 4 stitches after patt rep and 1 edge stitch.

k: Knit

p: Purl

2-st RTp: skip 1 stitch, knit 2nd stitch before first stitch, without dropping from left-hand needle, purl the first stitch, drop both stitches from left-hand needle

2-st LTp: purl 2nd stitch behind first stitch, without dropping from left-hand needle, knit the first stitch, drop both stitches from left-hand needle

2-st right cross: skip 1 stitch, knit 2nd st before first stitch, without dropping from left-hand needle, knit the first stitch, drop both stitches from left-hand needle

2-st left cross: knit through the back loop 2nd stitch behind first stitch, without dropping from left-hand needle, knit the first stitch, drop both stitches from left-hand needle

Row 1 (right side): edge st, * 2-st LTp, 2-st RTp, 2-st right cross *; repeat from * to *; end with 2-st LTp, 2-st RTp, edge st.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): Work each stitch as it appears on this side of work (k the k sts and p the p sts).

Row 3: edge st, k1, * 2-st LTp, 2-st RTp, 2-st LTp *; repeat from * to *; end with 2-st LTp, p1, edge st.

Row 5: edge st, * 2-st left cross, 2-st LTp, p2 *; repeat from * to *; end with 2-st left cross, 2-st LTp, edge st.

Row 7: edge st, p1, * 2-st left cross, 2-st LTp, 2-st RTp *; repeat from * to *; end with 2-st left cross, p1, edge st.

Row 9: edge st, * 2-st RTp, 2-st LTp, 2-st RTp *; repeat from * to *; end with 2-st RTp, 2-st LTp, edge st.

Row 11: edge st, k1, * p2, 2-st RTp, 2-st right cross *; repeat from * to *; end with p2, k1, edge st.

Vertically, repeat Rows 1 through 12 for pattern.
