Stripes with Cable and Garter Stitch

How to knit stripes with Cable and Garter Stitch:

Work with a multiple of 16 stitches + 8 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 26 stitches (16 + 8 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows Right Side and Wrong Side rows.

The numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows, and at left edge WS rows.

Read RS rows from right to left, WS rows from left to right.

The patt rep = 16 sts wide.

C6F: slip 3 sts to cable needle, hold to front, K3, K3 from cable needle

Rows 1, 3 and 5: knit all sts.

Row 2: purl all sts.

Rows 4, 6 and 8: edge st, k1, p6, k1, * k9, p6, k1; repeat from *, edge st.

Row 7: edge st, * k1, C6F, k9; repeat from * to last 9 sts, k1, C6F, k1, edge st.

Rows 9, 11, 13 and 15: knit all sts.

Rows 10, 12, 14 and 16: purl all sts.

Rows 17 and 19: knit all sts.

Rows 18, 20 and 22: edge st, k8, * k1, p6, k9; repeat from * to last stitch, edge st.

Row 21: edge st, * k9, C6F, k1; repeat from * to last 9 sts, k8, edge st.

Rows 23, 25 and 27: knit all sts.

Rows 24, 26 and 28: purl all sts.

Repeat Rows 1-28 throughout.
