Lace Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit Lace Stitch:

Work with a multiple of 16 stitches + 11 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 29 sts (4 + 16 + 7 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only Right Side Rows.

On Wrong Side Rows, work sts as they appear; work yo’s Purl. 

The patt rep = 16 sts wide.

Begin with 1 edge st and 4 sts before patt rep, work patt repeat throughout, end with 7 sts after patt rep and 1 edge st.

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch 

cdd (Central Double Decrease): slip first and second stitches together as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch

Row 1: edge st, yo, k4, * cdd, k4, yo, k5, yo, k4 *; repeat from * to *; cdd, k4, yo, edge st.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows: work each stitch as it appears on this side of work (knit the k sts and purl the p sts) and purl any yarn-over loops.

Row 3: edge st, k1, yo, k3, * cdd, k3, yo, k3, p1, k3, yo, k3 *; repeat from * to *; cdd, k3, yo, k1, edge st.

Row 5: edge st, k2, yo, k2, * cdd, k2, yo, k3, p1, k1, p1, k3, yo, k2 *; repeat from * to *; cdd, k2, yo, k2, edge st.

Row 7: edge st, k3, yo, k1, * cdd, k1, yo, k3, p1, k3, p1, k3, yo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; cdd, k1, yo, k3, edge st.

Rows 9, 11 and 13: edge st, p1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, * cdd, yo, k1, yo, skpo, p1, k5, p1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo *; repeat from * to *; cdd, yo, k1, yo, skpo, p1, edge st.

Repeat Rows 1-14 throughout.
