Diagonal Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit Diagonal Stitch:

Work with multiple of 8 stitches + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 18 stitches (4 + 8 + 4 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only RS rows.

On WS rows, work all sts and yo’s P.

The pat rep = 8 sts wide.

Begin with 1 edge st and 4 sts before patt rep, work patt repeat throughout, end with 4 sts after patt and 1 edge st.

yo: yarn over

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch

Row 1: edge st, (yo, skpo) twice, * k4, (yo, skpo) twice, repeat from * to last 5 sts, k4, edge st.

Row 3: edge st, k1, yo, skpo, yo, * skpo, k4, yo, skpo, yo, repeat from * to last 6 sts, skpo, k3, edge st.

Row 5: edge st, k2, yo, skpo, * yo, skpo, k4, yo, skpo, repeat from * to last 5 sts, yo, skpo, k2, edge st.

Row 7: edge st, yo, skpo, k2, * k2, (yo, skpo) twice, k2, repeat from * to last 5 sts, k2, yo, skpo, edge st.
