Checker Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit Checker Stitch:

Work with a multiple of 8 sts + 6 + 2 selvage sts.

Cast on 24 sts (8 + 8 + 6 + 2 edge sts) and work according to сhart.

The chart shows Right Side rows and Wrong Side rows.

The numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows, and at left edge WS rows.

Read RS rows from right to left, WS rows from left to right.

The patt rep = 8 sts wide.

slip wyib: slip 1 pwise, leave yarn at back of work

slip wyif: slip 1 pwise, leave yarn at front of work

Row 1 (RS): knit all stitches.

Row 2 (WS): purl all stitches.

Rows 3 and 5: edge st, * p6, slip wyib twice *; repeat from * to *; p6, edge st.

Rows 4 and 6: edge st, k6, * slip wyif twice, k6 *; repeat from * to *; edge st.

Row 7: knit all stitches.

Row 8: purl all stitches.

Rows 9 and 11: edge st, p2, slip wyib twice, * p6, slip wyib twice *; repeat from * to *; p2, edge st.

Rows 10 and 12: edge st, k2, * slip wyif twice, k6 *; repeat from * to *; slip wyif twice, k2, edge st.

Repeat Rows 1-12 throughout.
