Checker Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit Checker Stitch:

Work with multiple of 8 stitches + 5 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 23 sts (8 + 8 + 5 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows Right Side rows and Wrong Side rows.

The numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows, and at left edge WS rows.

The patt rep = 8 sts wide.

Rows 1 and 7: edge st, * (p1, k3) twice, repeat from * to last 6 sts, p1, k3, p1, edge st.

Rows 2, 4 and 6: edge st, k1, p3, k1, * k1, p1, k2, p3, k1, repeat from * to last stitch, edge st.

Rows 3 and 5: edge st, * p1, k3, (p1, k1) twice, repeat from * to last 6 sts, p1, k3, p1, edge st.

Rows 8, 10 and 12: edge st, k2, p1, k2, * p3, k2, p1, k2, repeat from * to last stitch, edge st.

Rows 9 and 11: edge st, * (p1, k1) twice, p1, k3, repeat from * to last 6 sts, (p1, k1) twice, p1, edge st.

Repeat Rows 1-12 throughout.
