Checker Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit Checker Stitch:

Work with multiple of 10 stitches + 5 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 17 sts (10 + 5 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only Right Side Rows.

On Wrong Side Rows, purl all sts.

The patt rep = 10 sts wide.

Begin with 1 edge st, work patt rep throughout, end with 5 sts after patt and 1 edge st.

2-st RT: knit 2nd st before first st, without dropping from LH needle, knit the first st, drop both sts from LH needle

2-st LT: knit through the back loop 2nd st behind first st, without dropping from LH needle, knit the first st, drop both sts from LH needle

Rows 1, 5 and 9: edge st, * p1, k1, 2-st LT, p1, k5, repeat from * to last 6 sts, p1, k1, 2-st LT, p1, edge st.

Rows 3 and 7: edge st, * p1, 2-st RT, k1, p1, k5, repeat from * to last 6 sts, p1, 2-st RT, k1, p1, edge st.

Rows 11, 15 and 19: edge st, * k5, p1, 2-st RT, k1, p1, repeat from * to last 6 sts, k5, edge st.

Rows 13 and 17: edge st, * k5, p1, k1, 2-st LT, p1, repeat from * to last 6 sts, k5, edge st.

Repeat Rows 1-20 throughout.
