How to knit Cable Stitch:
Work with a multiple of 24 stitches + 2 edge stitches.
Cast on 26 stitches (24 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.
The chart shows only Right Side rows.
On Wrong Side rows, work all stitches as they appear or as given in instructions.
The pattern repeat = 24 stitches wide.
Repeat patt between edge stitches throughout.
Abbreviation:
k: Knit
p: Purl
gst (1 st in garter stitch): purl in right side and wrong side rows
C6F (K3+K3): slip 3 sts to cable needle, hold to front, K3, K3 from cable needle
C6B (K3+K3): slip 3 sts to cable needle, hold to back, K3, K3 from cable needle
Written Instructions:
Rows 1 and 3 (right side): edge stitch, * gst3, p3, k12, p3, gst3 *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.
Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): work each stitch as it appears on this side of work (k the k sts and p the p sts) or as given in instructions.
Rows 5 and 7: edge stitch, * k3, p3, k12, p3, k3 *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.
Row 9: edge stitch, * k3, p3, C6F, C6B, p3, k3 *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.
Row 11: edge stitch, * k3, p3, k12, p3, k3 *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.
