Butterfly Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit Butterfly Stitch:

Work with multiple of 10 sts + 5 + 2 edge sts.

Cast on 17 sts (10 + 5 + 2 edge sts) and work according to the chart.

The chart shows RS and WS rows.

The pat rep = 10 sts wide. 

slip 5 sts wyib: slip 5 pwise, leave yarn at back of work

k1tog4strands: catch 4 front horizontal strands and knit together with the next st 

Rows 1, 3, 5 and 7 (RS): knit all sts.

Rows 2, 4, 6 and 8 (WS): edge st, k5, * slip 5 sts wyib, k5, repeat from *, edge st.

Row 9 (RS): edge st, * k7, k1tog4strands, k2, repeat from * to last 6 sts, k5, edge st.

Rows 10, 12, 14 and 16 (WS): edge st, slip 5 sts wyib, * k5, slip 5 sts wyib, repeat from *, edge st.

Rows 11, 13 and 15 (RS): knit all sts.

Row 17 (RS): edge st, * k2, k1tog4strands, k7, repeat from * to last 6 sts, k2, k1tog4strands, k2, edge st.

Work rows 1-17 once, then repeat rows 2-17 throughout.
