Braided Cable Knitting Stitch Pattern

How to knit Braid Cable Stitch:

Work with multiple of 20 stitches + 2 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 24 stitches (20 + 2 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows Right Side and Wrong Side rows.

The numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows, and at left edge WS rows.

Read RS rows from right to left, WS rows from left to right.

2-st RT: knit 2nd st before first st, without dropping from LH needle, knit the first st, drop both sts from LH needle

2-st LT: knit through the back loop 2nd st behind first st, without dropping from LH needle, knit the first st, drop both sts from LH needle

2-st RTp: knit 2nd st before first st, without dropping from LH needle, purl the first st, drop both sts from LH needle

2-st LTp: purl 2nd st behind first st, without dropping from LH needle, knit the first st, drop both sts from LH needle

Rows 1, 5 and 9: edge st, * p2, k1, p2, 2-st RT, (p2, k1) twice, p1, k1, p2, k1, p1, k1, repeat from * to last 3 sts, p2, edge st.

Rows 2 and 6: edge st, k2, * (p1, k1, p1, k2) twice, (2-st RTp, 2-st LTp) twice, k2, repeat from * to last stitch, edge st.
