Vest with Diamond Pattern

Size: 12 (US 8).

Materials:

Yarn: 400 g (50% Wool, 50% Acrylic, yardage = 280 m/100 g); 1 pair of knit needle size 3 mm (US 2.5), crochet hook size 2.5 mm (US B), 1 button.

Basic Pattern:

Work according to chart 1. RS and WS rows are shown. 

Repeat Rows 1-2 throughout.

Cable Diamond Pattern: 

Work according to chart 2. 

Only RS rows are shown. 

On WS rows work all sts as they appear.

Repeat Rows 33-68 throughout.

Trim: 

Work according to chart 3.

Back: 

Cast on 97 sts and work in Basic Pattern. 

For side slants, when piece measures 12 cm from cast on, bind off 1 st 5 times at both ends on every 4th row.

Cont even for 22 cm. 

Then inc 1 st at each end on every 4th row 6 times. 

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 43 cm from cast on, at both ends bind off 5 sts once, then on every 2nd row 2 sts once and 1 st 3 times. Cont even. 

Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 66 cm from cast on, bind off center 20 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at neckline edge bind off 2 sts once and 1 st once on every 2nd row. 

When piece measures 67 cm from cast on, bind off all sts.

Right Front: 

Cast on 45 sts and work in foll divisions: selv st, 8 sts in Basic Pattern, 29 sts in Cable Diamond Pattern, 8 sts in Basic Pattern, selv st.

Work even.

For side slant, when piece measures 12 cm from cast on, bind off 1 st 5 times at left end on every 4th row.

Cont even. 

When piece measures 22 cm from cast on, inc 1 st 6 times at left end on every 4th row.

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 43 cm from cast on, bind off 5 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st once. 

At the same time, when piece measures 43 cm from cast on, for neck slant, at right edge bind off 1 st on every 2nd row. 

When piece measures 67 cm from cast on, bind off all sts.

Left Front: Work in reverse.

Finishing: 

Sew side and shoulder seams. 

Work according to crochet chart 3 around bottom edge, edges of fronts, neck edge and armhole edges.

Sew button on left front. Hole of pattern will serve as buttonhole.
