Materials:
Yarn: 400 g (30% Wool, 70% Acrylic, yardage = 300 m/100 g); 1 pair quick knit needles and one circular needle, both size 3 mm (US 2.5).
Rib Pattern: alt K1, P1.
Lace Pattern with Cables:
Work according to chart. Only RS rows are shown.
On WS rows, work all sts as they appear; work yos P.
Repeat Rows 1-26 throughout.
Gauge: 21 sts and 19 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Back:
Cast on 97 sts and work 8 cm in Rib Patt.
Cont to work in Lace Pattern with Cables (rep 5 times betw selv sts).
Armhole Shaping: After 41 cm from beg, bind off at each end 4 sts once, 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st once on every 2nd row.
Note:
At each end, dec 1/2 patt rep.
It is better to work decs on Rows 13-20 in order to keep the pattern = 78 sts.
Neckline Shaping: After 58 cm from beg, bind off center 24 sts and complete both sides separately.
For rounding at inside edge bind off 3 sts twice on every 2nd row.
When piece measures 60 cm from beg, bind off rem 21 sts for shoulder.
Front:
Work as given for back, but for neckline, after 41 cm from beg, divide work in half and complete both sides separately.
For neckline slant, at inside edge bind off 1 sts 18 times on every 2nd row.
When piece measures 60 cm from beg, bind off rem 21 sts for shoulder.
Sleeve:
Cast on 47 sts and work 10 cm in Rib Patt.
Cont in Lace Pattern with Cables as foll: selv st, sts 1-19 twice, sts 1-6 once, K1, selv st.
At first, sts will be increased as patt is worked to 3 full patt reps, then inc 1 st 4 times at each end on every 16th row for widening = 67 sts.
Cap Shaping: When piece measures 47 cm from beg, at each end bind off 4 sts once, 3 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st 6 times, 2 sts once, 3 sts once and 4 sts once on every 2nd row.
When piece measures 60 cm from beg, bind off rem 19 sts.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams.
Neck Band: With circular needle and RS facing, pick up 148 sts evenly around neck edge from center of front and work 4 cm in Rib Patt. Dec 1 st at end of each row. Bind off sts.
Sew short edges of band.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
