Sweater with Leaves and Cables

Sizes: 22/24 (US 18/20)

Materials: 

Yarn: 500 g (80% Australian Wool, 20% Polyamide, yardage = 320 m / 100 g); 1 pair quick knit needles size 3.5 mm (US 4).

Reverse stocking stitch (Rev st st): Work RS rows P and WS rows K.

Garter st (gst): RS and WS rows K.

Cable Pattern:

Work according to chart 1. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Repeat Rows 1-4 thoughout.

Leaf Pattern with Cables:

Work according to chart 2. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.

Work patt rep 1 six times, then patt rep 2 throughout. 

Cable Panel:

Work according to chart 3. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Repeat Rows 1-4 thoughout.

Gauge: 24 sts and 29 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back: 

Cast on 131 sts and work as foll: selv st, P1, * 10 sts in Cable Pattern, 29 sts in Leaf Pattern with Cables, rep from * twice more, 10 sts in Cable Pattern, P1, selv st. 

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 45 cm from beg, at each end bind off 6 sts once, then 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st once on every 2nd row = 107 sts. 

Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 64 cm from beg, bind off center 37 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row bind off 3 sts once, 2 sts once and rem 30 sts for shoulders once. 

Front: 

Work as given for back, but for neckline, after 58 cm from beg, bind off center 29 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row bind off 3 sts once, 2 sts twice and 1 st twice.

After 66 cm from beg, bind off rem 30 sts each side for shoulders.

Sleeves: 

Cast on 45 sts and purl 4 rows.

Cont as foll: selv st, 7 sts in Rev st st, 29 sts in Leaf Pattern with Cables, 7 sts in Rev st st, selv st. 

Sleeve Slants: After 5 cm, at each end inc 1 st 5 times on every 4th row, 5 times on every 6th row and 11 times on every 8th row. Work inc'd sts into Rev st st = 87 sts. 

Cap Shaping: After 46 cm from beg, at each end bind off 6 sts, on every 2nd row 3 sts once and 2 sts twice, on every 4th row 1 st 3 times, on every 2nd row 1 st 12 times, 2 sts once, 3 sts once and rem 21 sts once. 

Collar is worked sideways. 

With waste yarn, cast on 46 sts.

Cont with primary yarn as foll: selv st, 3 sts in gst, 4 sts in Cable Panel 6 times, P1, 16 sts in gst, selv st. 

When piece measures 56 cm from beg, leave open sts, remove waste yarn. On WS, join and work sts of first and last rows tog pairwise. Bind off at once. 

Finishing: 

Close shoulder seams. 

Sew collar to neckline edge. 

Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
