Sweater with Cable Diamonds

Size: 10/12 (US 8/10)

Materials:

Yarn: 700 g (48% Wool, 52% Acrylic, yardage = 200 m/100 g); 1 pair quick knit needles size US 6 (4 mm).

Rib Pattern: alt K1, P1.

Rib Pattern 1: alt K2, P2.

Stockinette stitch (St st): work RS rows K and WS rows P.

Lace Pattern:

Work according to chart 1. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.

Cable Diamond Pattern:

Work according to chart 2. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Gauge: 16 sts and 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back:

Cast on 84 sts and work 6 rows in Rib Patt 1.

Cont in St st, dec 14 sts evenly across the 1st row = 70 sts.

For the Waist Shaping, after 3 cm dec 1 st 3 times at each end on every 10th row = 64 sts.

Then work 15 cm even.

After that inc 1 st at each end on every 10th row 2 times = 68 sts.

When work meas 43 cm, begin to work decs for raglan slants. At beg of next RS row, work as foll: selv st, K1, k2tog tbl, cont in knit stitch until 4 last sts of the row, k2tog, K1, selv st.

Rep these decs on every 2nd row 19 more times = 28 sts.

Place rem sts onto holder.

Front:

Cast on 84 sts and work 6 rows in Rib Patt 1.

Then work 2 rows in St st, and dec 6 sts evenly across 1st row = 78 sts.

Cont as foll: selv st, 19 sts in St st, 38 sts in Lace Pattern, 19 sts in St st, selv st.

To shape waist and raglan slants, work decs and incs same as for back.

At the same time, when work meas 58 cm, shape neckline: bind off center 18 sts knitting every 2nd or 3d st tog.

For rounding at inside edge bind off 3 sts 3 times and 1 st once on every 2nd row.

Complete to match first side of neck, reversing all shaping.

Sleeves:

Cast on 56 sts and work in Cable Diamond Pattern.

When work meas 13 cm, beg to work in St st, and dec 8 sts evenly across 1st row = 48 sts.

On foll 10th row, dec 1 st once at each end = 46 sts.

Work 10 cm even, then shape sleeve slants: inc 1 st 4 times at each end on every 10th row = 54 sts.

When work meas 47 cm, work raglan slants on both sides same as for back.

Place rem 14 sts of sleeve on holder.

Finishing:

Transfer from holder to needles 14 sts of sleeve, 28 sts of back and 14 sts of the second sleeve; pick up 36 sts evenly around front neck edge = 92 sts.

Work 8 cm in Rib Patt 1, then work in Cable Diamond Pattern.

After 5 cm inc evenly 10 sts.

Rep incs 2 more times every 5 cm.

After 16 cm bind off all sts.

Join raglan, side and sleeve seams.

Belt (2 pcs): cast on 11 sts and work 50 cm in Rib Patt, then sew it on in front, on both sides of Lace Pattern as shown in photo.
