Sweater in Textured Patterns
Sizes: 14-16 (US 10-12).
Materials:
Yarn: 350 g (55% Wool, 45% Polyester, yardage = 274 m/100 g); 1 pair quick knit needles and one circular needle, both size 3 mm (US 2.5).
Garter st (gst): k every row.
Basic Pattern:
Work according to chart 1. Only RS rows are shown.
On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.
Repeat Rows 1-24 throughout.
Textured Pattern:
Work according to chart 2. Only RS rows are shown.
On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.
Work rows 1-24 once, then rep rows 25-36.
Gauge: 19 sts and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Back:
Cast on 78 sts and work 8 rows in gst.
Cont in Basic Patt.
Armhole Shaping: After 36 cm from beg, bind off at each end 4 sts once and 2 sts once on every 2nd row = 66 sts.
At the same time, after Row 24 of Basic Patt cont in Textured Pattern.
Neckline Shaping: After 58 cm from beg, bind off center 16 sts and complete both sides separately.
For rounding at inside edge bind off 3 sts once and 2 sts once on every 2nd row.
At the same time, shape shoulders: bind off outer 7 sts twice and 6 sts once on every 2nd row.
Front:
Work as given for back, but for neck, after 54 cm from beg, bind off center 12 sts and complete both sides separately.
For rounding at inside edge bind off 4 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st once on every 2nd row.
When piece measures 58 cm from beg, at outside edge shape shoulders same as for back.
Sleeves:
Cast on 40 sts and work 8 rows in gst.
Cont in Basic Patt.
Sleeve Shaping: When piece measures 22 cm from beg, at each end inc 1 st 12 times on every 4th row working sts into patt = 64 sts.
Cap Shaping: When piece measures 45 cm from beg, bind off 4 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st 14 times, 2 sts once, 3 sts once and rem 14 sts once on every 2nd row.
Finishing:
Close shoulder seams.
For collar, using circular needle, pick up 70 sts from RS evenly around neck edge and work *4 rows of St st, 4 rows of Rev st st* 3 times. Bind off sts.
Sew side seams, sleeve seams and set in sleeves.
