Sweater in Pattern Mix
Size: 16/18 (US 12/14)
Yarn: 800 g (100% Wool Mixture); needles size 3 mm (US 3) and 3.5 mm (US 4).
Rib Patt: K2, P2.
St st: K on RS rows, P on WS rows.
Diamond Cable Pattern: Foll the chart.
Work rows 1 - 78 once, then rep rows 55 - 78.
Gauge: 24 sts and 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Using needles size 3 mm, cast on 146 sts and work 5 cm in Rib Patt, cont with needles size 3.5 mm as foll: selv st, 13 sts in St st, 118 sts in Diamond Cable Pattern, 13 sts in St st, selv st.
Armhole Shaping: After 40 cm from beg, bind off at each end 4 sts, then on every 2nd row 3 sts twice, 2 sts twice, 1 st 4 times = 110 sts.
Neckline Shaping: When work measures 62 cm from beg, bind off centre 30 sts and complete both sides separately.
For rounding at inside edge bind off 4 sts once and 3 sts once on every 2nd row.
At the same time, shape shoulders: bind off outer 11 sts 3 times.
Work as given for back, but for the Neck Shaping, after 55 cm from beg, bind off center 20 sts and complete both sides separately.
For rounding at inside edge bind off 3 sts once, 2 sts 3 times and 1 st 3 times on every 2nd row.
When piece measures 62 cm from beg, shape shoulder slant.
Using needles size 3 mm, cast on 58 sts and work 5 cm in Rib Patt, while inc 9 sts evenly across last WS row = 67 sts.
Cont with needles size 3.5 mm as foll: selv st, 8 sts in St st, 49 sts in Diamond Cable Pattern, 8 sts in St st, selv st.
For sleeve slants inc 1st on either side alt on every 6th and 8th rows 19 times = 105 sts.
Cap Shaping: When piece measures 46 cm from beg, bind off 4 sts at each end, then bind off on every 2nd row 3 sts once, 2 sts twice, 1 st 15 times, 2 sts twice, 3 sts once, 4 sts once and rem 31 sts once.
Work in reverse for other sleeve.
Sew the right shoulder seam.
With needles size 3 mm, pick up 130 sts evenly around neck edge from RS and work 16 cm in Rib Patt. Bind off all sts.
Neckband: cast on 42 sts along side collar edge and work 2 cm in Rib Patt. Bind off sts.
Rep for other side.
Sew the left shoulder seam, side and sleeve seams.
Lay bands against each other and sew seam as far as collar center.
