MATERIALS

Yarn: 550 g Bouton d’Or Merinosoie (50% Akrylic, 30% Merino Wool, 20% Silk, 120 m per 50 g ball); 1 pair of straight and circular needles, both size 3, and DPNs of size 3.

Cable Pat 1:

Rows 1 and 5: p2, k4, p2.

Rows 2, 4, 6: Work in pattern.

Row 3: p2, 4-st LC (SI 2 sts to cn and hold to front, k2, k2 from cn), p2.

Cable Pat 2:

Rows 1 and 5: k4.

Rows 2, 4, 6: Work in pattern.

Row 3: 4-st RC (SI 2 sts to cn and hold to back, k2, k2 from cn).

Diamond Patt: Work according to chart.

Gauges: 27 sts and 36 rows = 10 x 10 сm.

BACK

Cast on 122 sts and cont as foll: selv st, 5 sts in Diamond Patt (from St 1 to St 5), * 8 sts in Cable 1, 9 sts in Diamond Patt, rep from * 6 times, 8 sts in Cable 1, 5 sts in Diamond Patt (from St 5 to St 9), selv st

When piece measures 13 cm from beg, bind off 5 sts on each diamond, work Cable 2 on remaining 4 sts.

Work 12 cm, add 5 sts in Cables 2 and cont working diamonds on these sts.

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 40 cm from beg, bind off 5 sts once at each end, then 2 sts 3 times and 1 st twice on every other row.

Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 60 cm from beg, bind off center 26 sts and complete both sides separately.

For rounding at inside edge, bind off 4 sts 3 times on every 2nd row.

At the same time, for shoulder slants, bind off 8 sts twice and 7 sts once on every 2nd row on either side.

FRONT

Work like back, but with deeper neckline.

After 55 cm from beg, bind off center 18 sts and complete both sides separately.

For rounding at inside edge, bind off 3 sts twice, 2 sts 3 times and 1 st 4 times on every other row.

SLEEVES

Using DPNs, cast on 48 sts, 12 sts per each needle, and cont as foll: * 4 sts in Cable 2, 8 sts in Cable 1, rep from * 4 times.

After 8 cm from beg, change to straight needles and cont on sts of Cable 2 in Diamond Patt while inc 5 sts in each Cable 2 and 1 selv st on either side = 70 sts.

Sleeve Shaping: inc 1 st 15 times on each side on every 8th row = 100 sts.

Sleeve Cap Shaping: After 45 cm from band, on either side bind off 10 sts once, 4 sts twice, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 10 times, 2 sts 4 times on every 2nd row, then bind off remaining sts.

FINISHING

Close shoulder seams.

Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.

Neckband Shaping: With circular needles, pick up 120 sts around neck edge, p 1 row, 1 cm in St st, then work 6 cm alt in Cable 1 and Cable 2, then bind off all sts.
