Cowl Neck Tunic

Sizes: 10/12 (US 6/8).

Materials: 

Yarn: 500 g (50% Wool, 45% Acrylic, 5% Viscose, yardage = 175 m/50 g); 1 pair quick knit needles and one circular needle, both size 5 mm (US 8).

Rib Pattern: alt K1, P1.

Reverse stockinette stitch (Rev st st): Work RS rows P and WS rows K; work rnds only P.

Double Seed Stitch:

Work according to chart 1. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear.

Repeat Rows 1-4 throughout.

Diamonds with Cables Pattern:

Work according to chart 2. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.

Repeat Rows 1-28 throughout.

Lace Diamonds Pattern:

Work according to chart 3. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.

Repeat Rows 1-32 throughout.

Center Pattern:

Work according to chart 4. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.

Repeat Rows 1-32 throughout.

Gauge: 19 sts and 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back: 

Cast on 101 sts and work 6 rows in Rib Patt.

Cont as foll:  selv st, 14 sts in Large Seed Sticth, 71 sts in Diamonds with Cables Pattern (work stitches 1-18 3 times and 1-17 once), 14 sts in Large Seed Sticth, selv st. 

Waist Shaping: Dec 1 stitch each side every 8th row 6 times = 89 sts.

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 58 cm from beg, at each end bind off 4 sts, then 2 sts once and 1 st once on every 2nd row = 75 sts.

Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 72 cm from beg, bind off center 29 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row bind off 1 st 3 times. 

After 74 cm from beg, bind off rem 20 sts each side for shoulders.

Front: 

Cast on 101 sts and work 6 rows in Rib Patt.

Cont as foll: selv st, 14 sts in Rev st st, 21 sts in Lace Diamonds Pattern, 29 sts in Center Pattern, 21 sts in Lace Diamonds Pattern, 14 sts in Rev st st, selv st. 

Waist Shaping: Dec 1 stitch each side every 8th row 6 times = 89 sts. 

Shape armholes as for back. 

Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 70 cm from beg, bind off center 29 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row bind off 2 sts once and 1 st twice. 

When piece measures 74 cm from beg, bind off rem 20 sts each side for shoulders.

Sleeves: 

Cast on 37 sts and work 6 rows in Rib Patt.

Cont in Center Pattern as foll: selv st, sts 1-3 once, sts 1-29 once, sts 27-29 once, selv st. 

Sleeve Shaping: Inc 1 stitch every 6th row 11 times at each end = 59 sts.

Cap Shaping: After 38 cm from beg, at each end bind off 4 sts once, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st twice on every 2nd row, and 1 st 6 times and rem 23 sts once on every 4th row.

Finishing: 

Close shoulder seams.

Collar: With circular needle, cast on 100 sts from RS around neck edge and work 6 rnds in Rib Patt.

Then distribute sts as foll: 71 sts in front - 21 sts in Lace Diamonds Pattern, 29 sts in Center Pattern, 21 sts in Lace Diamonds Pattern; 29 sts in Rev st st in back. 

On even-numbered rnds work all sts as they appear, work yos K. 

After 17 cm, on Rev st st stripe, inc 1 st after each 5th st = 105 sts; after 5 cm inc 2 sts after each 5th st creating * P1, 1 yo, P1 *  from 1 st = 115 sts.   

When piece measures 24 cm from beg, bind off all sts loosely. 

Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
