Cardigan with Lace Panels

Sizes: M/L. 

Materials: 

Yarn: 480 g (100% Cotton, 125 m/50 g); 1 one pair quick knit needles size 2.5 mm (US 1.5). 

Gauge: 22 sts and 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Garter st (gst): RS and WS rows K.

Stockinette stitch (St st): Work RS rows K and WS rows P.

Lace Panels:

Work according to chart. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, purl all sts and yos.

Rep rows 1-8.

Back: 

Cast on 113 sts and work 3 rows in gst for band.

Cont in Lace Panels as foll: selv st, patt rep 7 times, sts 16-21 once, selv st. 

For neckline, after 80 cm from beg, bind off center 29 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row bind off 3 sts twice and rem 36 sts once for shoulder.  

Left Front: 

Cast on 59 sts and work 3 rows in gst for band.

Cont in Lace Panels as foll: selv st, patt rep 3 times, sts 16-21 once, 6 sts in gst (= band), selv st. 

For neckline shaping, when piece meas 59 cm from beg, dec 1 st 15 times on every 2nd RS row. Knit 2 last sts of Lace Panel before band tog = 44 sts.

After 82 cm from beg, at outside edge, bind off 36 sts for shoulder. Work 10 cm over rem 8 sts (= 6 sts in gst + 2 selv sts). Leave or bind off sts.  

Right Front: Work in reverse. 

For neckline shaping, after band sts, work 1 skpo: sl 1 kwise, K1, pass slipped stitch over. 

Sleeves: 

Cast on 57 sts and work 3 rows in gst for band. 

Cont in Lace Panels as foll: selv st, 3 sts in St st, patt rep 3 times, sts 16-21 once, 3 sts in St st, selv st. 

For sleeve shaping, inc 1 stitch of St st 16 times each side on every 4th row = 89 sts.

When piece measures 40 cm from beg, bind off all sts.

Finishing: 

Close shoulder seams. 

Join short sides of front bands using kitchener stitch. Sew bands to back neck. 

Sew in sleeves, join side and sleeve seams.
