Cardigan with cables

Size: Medium.

Materials:

Yarn: 600 g (50% Wool, 50% Acrylic, yardage = 280 m/100 g); one pair quick knit needles size US 6 (4 mm), 6 buttons.

Stockinette stitch (St st): work RS rows K and WS rows P.

Garter Stitch (gst): Knit on RS and WS rows.

Rib pattern: * K2, P2, repeat from * throughout.

Basic Pattern:

Work according to сhart 1. RS rows and WS rows are shown.

Repeat these 2 rows for pattern.

Zig-Zag Pattern:

Work according to charts 2 and 3. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Work Rows 1 - 30 once, then repeat Rows 3 - 30 throughout.

Cable Pattern:

Work according to charts 4 and 5. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Repeat Rows 1-6 throughout.

Back:

Cast on 92 sts and work 6 cm in Rib Patt for border, increase 1 sts evenly across last WS row = 93 sts.

Continue in Basic Pattern.

For the Armhole Shaping, after 46 cm from beg, bind off at each end 4 sts, then on every 2nd row 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st 3 times.

Continue even.

When piece measures 70 cm from beg, bind off all sts.

Right Front:

Cast on 55 sts and continue as foll: edge st, 9 sts garter st (for the border), 44 sts in Rib Patt, edge st.

When piece measures 6 cm from beg, work in pats as foll: edge st, 9 sts garter st (for the border), 6 sts in Cable Patt acc chart 4, 17 sts in Zig-Zag Patt acc chart 3, 21 sts in Basic Patt, edge st.

At the sime time, work evenly 6 buttonholes as foll: for each buttonhole, bind off 3 sts and on the foll row cast on 3 sts.

For the Armhole Shaping, after 43 cm from beg, bind off 4 sts at left edge, then on every 2nd row 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st once.

At the same time, for neckline slant, decrease 1 st on every 4th row 6 times after the garter st.

Then decrease 1 st on every 2nd row 11 times after the sts of Zig-Zag Patt.

When piece measures 70 cm from beg, bind off all sts.

Left Front: Work in reverse, but without buttonholes.

Sleeves:

Cast on 44 sts and work 6 cm in Rib Patt for border, increase 1 sts evenly across last WS row = 45 sts.

Continue in Basic Pattern.

For the Sleeve Shaping, increase 1 stitch each side every 6th row.

For the Cap Shaping, after 41 cm from beg, bind off at each end 4 sts, then on every 2nd row 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st 16 times.

When piece measures 61 cm from beg, bind off all sts.

Finishing:

Close shoulder seams.

Sew in sleeves, join side and sleeve seams.

Sew on buttons.
