Cardigan in Fancy and Lace Pattern

Sizes: 16/18 (US 12/14).

Materials:

Yarn: 800 g (95% Wool, 5% Acrylic, yardage = 100 m/100 g); 1 pair knit needles and one circular needle, both size 8 mm (US 11); 1 stitch holder.

Stocking stitch (St st): work RS rows K and WS rows P.

Rib Patt: alt K2, P2.

Lace Pattern: 

Work according to chart. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts and yos P.

Rep rows 1-16 throughout.

Fancy Pattern: 

Row 1: *k2, p2; rep from * to the end of row.

Row 2, 4, 5 and 8: Work in pats, purl yos. 

Row 3: *k2tog, 1 yo, p2; rep from *.

Row 5: *k2, p2; rep from * to the end of row.

Row 7: *1 yo, k2tog, p2; rep from *.

Gauge over Fancy Pattern: 10 sts and 12 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back: 

Cast on 47 sts and work (for turndown) 4 rows in St st, then 1 row: *1 yo, k2tog; rep from * to the end of row. 

Then work 4 rows in St st. 

Work 22 rows in Lace Pattern. Then work 9 rows in Rib Pattern for belt.

Cont in Fancy Pattern.

Waist Shaping: On every 4th row from beg of Lace Pattern, at each end bind off 1 st, then on every 4th row 1 st 4 times.

When piece measures 20 rows from beg of Lace Pattern, inc 1 st 5 times at each end on every 2nd row = 47 sts.

Armhole Shaping: On Row 81 from beg of Lace Pattern, bind off 3 sts at each end, 2 sts once on every 2nd row, 1 st twice on every 4th row = 33 sts.

Neckline Shaping: On Row 25 from armhole, bind off center 13 sts = 10 sts rem.

Sleeve Shaping: On Row 26 from armhole, at each end bind off 3 sts.

On Row 28 bind off rem 7 sts each side for shoulders.

Left Front: Work same as back.

Neckline Shaping: On Row 32 from beg of Lace Pattern, dec at left end as foll: slip unworked st onto holder 23 times on every 2nd row = 10 sts.

Sleeve Shaping: On Row 26 from armhole, at each end bind off 3 sts. 

On Row 28 bind off rem 7 sts each side for shoulders.

Right Front: Work in reverse.

Sleeves: 

Cast on 26 sts and work 30 rows in Rib Patt, then work in Fancy Pattern.

Sleeve Shaping: inc 1 st each side every 4th row 4 times = 34 sts.

Cap Shaping: On Row 71 from beg, at each end bind off 4 sts once, 2 sts once, 3 sts once on every 2nd row, and 3 sts once on every 6th row. 

On Row 83 from beg, bind off remaining 10 sts.

Finishing:

Close shoulder seams.

Sew side seams (on right side leave hole for belt). 

Sew sleeve seams and set in sleeves.

Collar: 

Transfer 23 open sts of right front and 23 open sts of left front onto circular needle. At the same time, pick up 8 sts along each front edge and 16 sts along back neck edge = 78 sts.  

Work 30 cm in Rib Patt. On left side, bind off 1 st 15 times on every 2nd row = 63 sts. 

On Row 61, bind off all sts.

Sew bottom in place along fold line.
