Girls' Sweater

Height: 110-116 cm (3.6-3.8 ft)

Materials: 

Yarn: 300 g (50% Wool, 45% Polyacrylic, 5% Viscose, yardage = 120 m/50 g); 1 pair quick knit needles and one circular needle, both size 3.75 mm (US 5).

Rib Patt: alt K2, P2 Rib. 

St st: k on RS rows, p on WS rows.

Gauge: 22.5 sts and 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back: 

Cast on 88 sts and work 5 cm in Rib Patt, on the last WS row inc 2 sts evenly spaced across = 86 sts.

Cont as foll: selv st, 6 sts in St st, 18 sts of chart 1, 36 sts of chart 2, 18 sts of chart 1, 6 sts in St st, selv st. 

Armhole Shaping: After 35 cm from beg, bind off at each end 3 sts, then on every 2nd row 2 sts once and 1 st once = 74 sts.

Neckline Shaping: After 46 cm from beg, bind off center 20 sts and complete both sides separately.

For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row bind off 4 sts once, 3 sts once and rem 20 sts for shoulders once.

Front: 

Work as given for back, but for neckline shaping, after 44 cm from beg, bind off center 18 sts and complete both sides separately.

For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row bind off 2 sts 3 times and 1 st twice. 

When piece measures 48 cm from beg, bind off rem 20 sts for shoulders.

Sleeves: 

Cast on 36 sts and work 5 cm in Rib Patt. Inc 10 sts evenly across last row = 46 sts.

Cont as foll: selv st, 13 sts in St st, 18 sts of chart 1, 13 sts in St st, selv st. 

For sleeve shaping, after 7 cm from beg, at each end inc 1 st in St st on every 10th row 9 times = 64 sts.

Cap Shaping: When piece measures 32 cm from beg, at each end bind off 3 sts, then 2 sts once, 1 st 7 times, 2 sts twice, 3 sts once and rem 26 sts once on every 2nd row. 

Finishing: 

Close shoulder seams. 

Collar: Using circular needle, pick up 96 sts evenly around neck edge from RS and work 17 cm in Rib Patt. Bind off sts loosely. 

Sew in sleeves, join side and sleeve seams.
