V-Neck Vest Knitting Pattern

Size: 10/12 (US 8/10).

Materials:

Yarn: 200 g (45% Wool, 55% Acrylic, yardage = 380 m/100 g); one pair quick knit needles and one circular needle, both size 2,5mm (US 1,5).

Rib Pattern: * K1, P1, rep from * throughout.

Fancy Pattern:

Work according to chart. Only Right Side rows are shown.

On Wrong Side rows, purl all sts and yo's.

Gauges:

in Rib Patt: 32 sts and 44 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

in Fancy Pattern: 25 sts and 33 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back:

Cast on 122 sts and work in Rib Patt for 40 rows.

Then work in Fancy pattern.

Armhole Shaping: On Row 77 from border, bind off at each end 3 sts , then  on every 2nd row 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 stitch once, on foll 4th row another 1 stitch once = 102 sts.

Neckline Shaping: On Row 147 from border, bind off center 30 sts and 3 sts every other row twice, 1 stitch once and on foll 4th row another 1 stitch once at both neck edges = 102 sts.

On Row 157 from border, bind off remaining 28 sts each side for shoulders.

Front:

Work like back, but with V-neck as foll:

Neckline Shaping: On Row 65 from border, bind off center 4 sts for neck, then bind off from each neck edge 1 stitch every 4th row 21 times.

On Row 157 from border, bind off remaining 28 sts each side for shoulders.

Finishing:

Sew shoulder and side seams.

For Neck Band, with circular needle, pick up 100 sts evenly around neck edge and work 9 rnds in Rib Pattern, Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) making sure you knit the stitch mid-front. At the same time on every 2nd round decrease 2 sts mid-front as follows: Work until there is 1 stitch left before the knitted stitch mid-front, slip 2 sts as if to knit together, knit 1, pass the slipped stitches over the knitted stitch. On Row 10 bind off all sts as they appear.

For the Armhole Bands, with circular needle, pick up and k 128 sts evenly around armhole edge and work 8 rnds in Rib Pat, then bind off all sts as they appear.
