Sweater with Cables

Sizes: M/L

Materials: 

Yarn: 750 g (50% Wool, 50% Acrylic, yardage = 320 m/100 g); quick knit needles size 2.5 and 3 mm (US 1.5 and 2.5) and one circular needle size 2.5 mm (US 1.5).

Cable Rib Pattern: 

Work according to chart 1. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Repeat Rows 1-4 throughout.

Cable Pattern:

Work according to chart 2. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Repeat Rows 1-60 throughout.

Gauge: 30 sts x 35 rows = 10 x 10 cm. 

Back: 

Using needles size 2.5 mm, cast on 161 sts and work 8 cm in Cable Rib Patt, inc 17 sts evenly across last WS row = 178 sts.

Cont with needles size 3 mm. Work in Cable Pattern: rep patt 4 times betw selv sts. 

Neckline Shaping: After 74 cm from beg, bind off center 44 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row bind off 3 sts twice and 2 sts once. 

When piece measures 76 cm from beg, bind off rem 59 sts each side for shoulders.

Front: 

Work as given for back, but for the neck shaping, after 68 cm from beg, bind off center 30 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row bind off 3 sts twice, 2 sts 3 times and 1 st 3 times. 

When piece measures 76 cm from beg, bind off rem 59 sts each side for shoulders.

Sleeves: 

Using needles size 2.5 mm, cast on 71 sts and work 8 cm in Cable Rib Patt, inc 19 sts evenly across last WS row = 90 sts.

Cont with needles size 3 mm. Work in Cable Pattern: rep patt 2 times betw selv sts. 

Sleeve Shaping: Inc 1 stitch each side on every 4th row 35 times = 160 sts. Work new sts into pat. 

When piece measures 55 cm from beg, bind off all sts. 

Finishing: 

Sew shoulder seams. 

Collar: Using circular needle, pick up 160 sts evenly around neck edge and work 21 cm in Cable Rib Patt. Bind off sts as they appear. 

Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
