Poncho Coat with Scarf
Size: M-XXL
Materials:
Yarn: 1300 g (50% Wool, 50% Acrylic, yardage = 200 m/100 g); 1 pair of knit needles size 3 and 3.5 mm (US 2.5 and 4); 8 wooden buttons, 25 mm in diameter.
Reverse stocking stitch (Rev st st): Work RS rows P and WS rows K.
Basic Pattern:
Work acc to сhart. Only RS rows are shown.
On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.
Rib Pattern: K2, P2 Rib.
Gauge: 18 sts and 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Poncho is worked top down in separate pieces.
Back:
Using 3.5 mm needles, cast on 77 sts and work as foll: 10 sts in Rev St st, 26 sts in Basic Pattern, 5 sts in Rev St st, 26 sts in Basic Pattern, 10 sts in Rev St st.
Then work 3 sts out of centre st on every 2nd row until end. On foll row, work them as they appear.
After 60 rows, at a distance of 4 sts from Basic Pattern, work 26 more sts in Basic Pattern instead of Rev St st.
Work as established for 60 more rows. Then again, at a distance of 4 sts from Basic Pattern, work 26 more sts in Basic Pattern instead of Rev St st.
Work as established until 40 rows are complete.
Then work 8 rows in gst and bind off all sts.
Front:
The front consists of 2 pieces, each of which is worked same as for half back.
At the side of band, inc 1 st on every 2nd row.
Sleeves:
Using 3.5 mm needles, cast on 66 sts and work as foll: 20 sts in Rev St st, 26 sts in Basic Pattern, 20 sts in Rev St st.
After 58 cm, switch to 3 mm needles and work 7 cm in Rib Patt. Then bind off all sts.
Scarf:
Using needles size 3 mm, cast on 38 sts and work 140 cm in Rib Patt. Bind off sts.
Finishing:
Beg from top, work raglan seams, 32 cm long.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
For double neckband, using 3 mm needles, pick up 100 sts from WS along neck edge and work as foll:
Rows 1, 3, 7, 9: Purl.
Rows 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10: Knit.
Tuck band onto WS and sew open sts to neck.
NB!
The neck must be tightly gathered.
Pick up 115 sts along vertical edges of fronts and work double band.
For closure, using 3 mm needles, cast on 9 sts and work 230 rows in gst.
Work 8 buttonholes evenly spaced on right band.
Sew bands to double band.
Sew scarf to neck at a distance of 10 cm from front edges.
