Center Fancy Panel Sweater

Size: 10/12 (US 8/10).

Materials:

Yarn: 800 g (80% acrylic, 20% polyamide, yardage = 110 m/100 g); one pair each sizes 10 and 10.5 (6 and 7mm) needles, one circular knitting needle size US 10 (6 mm), 60 cm long.

Rip Pattern 2/2: K2, * P2, K2, repeat from * to end of row.

Stockinette stitch (St st): work RS rows K and WS rows P.

Fancy Pattern:

Work according to chart. The chart shows only RS rows.

On WS rows, purl all sts and yo's.

Work Rows 1 - 18 once, then repeat Rows 9 - 18 throughout.

Gauge:

12 sts and 17 rows = 10 x 10 cm over St st with 7 mm needles.

Back:

With size 6mm needles, cast on 72 sts, work in Rib Patt for border, increase 1 st on the last WS row = 73 sts.

After 4 cm from beg, change to 7 mm needles and proceed as follows: 24 sts in St st, 25 sts in Fancy Patt, 24 sts in St st.

At same time, for side slants from border, bind off 1 st on every 12th row 4 times at each end.

For the Armhole Shaping, after 40 cm from beg, bind off 2 sts at each end of next row, then on every 2nd 2 sts once and 1 st once.

After 40 cm from beg, work only center 3 sts in Fancy Patt, then work 35 sts in St st on either side of them. 

When piece measures 56 cm from beg, bind off all sts.

Front:

Work like back, but with neckline.

For the Neck Shaping, after 53 cm from beg, bind off center 13 sts and complete both sides separately.

For inner rounding, bind off on every 2nd row 3 sts twice at neck edge.

When piece measures 56 cm from beg, bind off all sts.

Sleeve:

With size 6mm needles, cast on 32 sts, work in Rib Patt for border, increase 1 st on the last WS row = 33 sts.

After 3 cm from beg, change to 7 mm needles and proceed as follows: 4 sts in St st, 25 sts in Fancy Patt, 25 sts in St st.

For the Sleeve shaping increase 1 st each end every 16th row 4 times, working increased sts into St st.

After 45 cm from beg, work only center 3 sts in Fancy Patt, work the side sts in St st.

For the Cap Shaping, after 48 cm from beg, bind off at each end 2 sts on every 2nd row 8 times.

Continue even on 9 sts acc to patt.

When piece measures 68 cm from beg, bind off all sts.

Finishing:

Sew the straight part of the sleeve to the shoulders of the front and back.

With RS facing and circular needle, pick up 88 sts evenly around neck edge and work in rnds in Rib Patt.

When piece measures 10 cm from beg, bind off sts.

Fold band in half to inside and sew in place.

Sew sleeves in position.

Sew sleeve seams.
