Leaf Stitch Knitting Pattern

Work with a multiple of 18 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 21 stitches (18 + 1 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only Right Side Rows.

On Wrong Side Rows, work all stitches as they appear, work the yarn-over loops as given in instructions.

The pattern repeat = 18 stitches wide.

Begin with 1 edge stitch, work patt rep throughout, end with 1 stitch after patt rep and 1 edge stitch.

k: Knit

p: Purl

yo: yarn over. On Wrong Side rows, purl the yo

yok: yarn over. On Wrong Side rows, knit the yo

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together as one

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch 

Row 1 (right side): edge stitch, * (k1, p1) twice, k2tog, yok, p1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, skpo, p1, yok, skpo, p1, k1, p1 *; repeat from * to *; k1, edge stitch.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): work each stitch as it appears on this side of work (knit the k sts and purl the p sts), work the yarn-over loops as given in instructions.

Row 3: edge stitch, * p1, k1, p1, k2tog, yok, p1, k2tog, (k1, yo) twice, k1, skpo, p1, yok, skpo, p1, k1 *; repeat from * to *; p1, edge stitch.

Row 5: edge stitch, * k1, p1, k2tog, yok, p1, k2tog, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, skpo, p1, yok, skpo, p1 *; repeat from * to *; k1, edge stitch.

Row 7: edge stitch, * p1, k2tog, yok, p1, k2tog, k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, skpo, p1, yok, skpo *; repeat from * to *; p1, edge stitch.
