Leaf Knitting Stitch

Work with a multiple of 23 stitches + 2 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 27 stitches (23 + 2 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only Right Side Rows.

On Wrong Side Rows, purl all stitches and yarn-over loops.

The pattern repeat = 23 stitches wide.

Begin with 1 edge stitch, work the pattern repeat throughout, and end with 2 stitches after the pattern repeat plus 1 edge stitch.

k: Knit

p: Purl

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together as one

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch

Row 1 (right side): edge stitch, * k5, skpo, k1, k2tog, (k1, yo) 4 times, k1, skpo, k1, k2tog, k3 *; repeat from * to *; end with k2, edge stitch.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): Purl.

Row 3: edge stitch, * k4, skpo, k1, k2tog, (k1, yo) twice, k3, (yo, k1) twice, skpo, k1, k2tog, k2 *; repeat from * to *; end with k2, edge stitch.

Row 5: edge stitch, * k3, skpo, k1, k2tog, (k1, yo) twice, k5, (yo, k1) twice, skpo, k1, k2tog, k1 *; repeat from * to *; end with k2, edge stitch.

Row 7: edge stitch, * k2, skpo, k1, k2tog, (k1, yo) twice, k7, (yo, k1) twice, skpo, k1, k2tog *; repeat from * to *; end with k2, edge stitch.

Repeat Rows 1-8 throughout.
