Lace Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit Lace Stitch:

Work with a multiple of 17 stitches + 9 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 28 sts (17 + 9 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only Right Side Rows.

On Wrong Side Rows, work sts as they appear or work according to chart key; purl yo's. 

The patt rep = 17 sts wide.

Begin with 1 edge st, work patt repeat throughout, end with 9 sts after patt rep and 1 edge st.

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch 

gst (1 st in garter stitch): work K in RS and WS rows

Row 1: edge st, * yo, k3, skpo, k2, k2tog, yo, p2, k4, p2 *; repeat from * to *; yo, k3, skpo, k2, k2tog, yo, edge st.

Rows 2, 4, 14 and 16: work each stitch as it appears on this side of work (knit the k sts and purl the p sts) and purl any yarn-over loops.

Row 3: edge st, * k1, yo, k3, skpo, k2tog, yo, k1, p2, k4, p2 *; repeat from * to *; k1, yo, k3, skpo, k2tog, yo, k1, edge st.

Row 5: edge st, * k2, yo, k3, skpo, k2, p2, gst4, p2 *; repeat from * to *; k2, yo, k3, skpo, k2, edge st.

Row 6, 8, 10 and 12: edge st, p9, * k8, p9 *; repeat from * to *, edge st.

Row 7: edge st, * k3, yo, k3, skpo, k1, p2, gst4, p2, k3, yo, k3, skpo, k1, edge st

Row 9: edge st, * k4, yo, k3, skpo, p2, gst4, p2 *; repeat from * to *; k4, yo, k3, skpo, edge st.

Row 11: edge st, * k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k2, k2tog, p2, gst4, p2 *; repeat from * to *; k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k2, k2tog, edge st.

Row 13: edge st, * k1, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, k1, k2tog, p2, k4, p2 *; repeat from * to *; k1, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, k1, k2tog, edge st.

Row 15: edge st, * k2tog, yo, k5, yo, k2tog, p2, k4, p2 *; repeat from * to *; k2tog, yo, k5, yo, k2tog, edge st.

Repeat Rows 1-16 throughout.
