Lace Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit the Lace Stitch: 

Work with a multiple of 10 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 23 stitches (10 + 10 + 1 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.

The chart shows right-side rows and wrong-side rows.

The numbers at right edge of chart indicate right-side rows, and at left edge wrong-side rows.

Read right-side rows from right to left, wrong-side rows from left to right.

The pattern repeat is 20 stitches wide.

k: Knit

p: Purl

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together as one

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch 

cdd (Central Double Decrease): slip first and second stitches together as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch

cddp (Central Double Decrease from the Wrong Side): transpose the order of the first and second stitch on the left needle; then purl the three stitches together

Rows 1 and 3 (right side): Knit.

Rows 2 and 4 (wrong side): Purl.

Row 5: edge stitch, * k1, yo, k3, cdd, k3, yo *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge stitch.

Row 6: edge stitch, p1, * p1, yo, p2, cddp, p2, yo, p2 *; repeat from * to *; end with the edge stitch.

Row 7: edge stitch, * k3, yo, k1, cdd, k1, yo, k2 *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge stitch.

Row 8: edge stitch, p1, * p3, yo, cddp, yo, p4 *; repeat from * to *; end with the edge stitch.

Row 9: edge stitch, * k1, yo, skpo, p1, yo, cdd, yo, p1, k2tog, yo *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge stitch.

Row 10: edge stitch, p1, * p3, k3, p4 *; repeat from * to *; end with the edge stitch.

Row 11: edge stitch, * k2, yo, skpo, yo, cdd, yo, k2tog, yo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge stitch.

Rows 12, 14 and 16: edge stitch, p1 * p2, k5, p3 *; repeat from * to *; end with the edge stitch.

Rows 13 and 15: edge stitch, * k4, yo, cdd, yo, k3 *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge stitch.

Repeat rows 1-16 throughout.
