Lace Stitch Knitting Pattern

Work with a multiple of 8 stitches + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 18 stitches (8 + 8 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.

The chart shows Right Side rows and Wrong Side rows.

The numbers at right edge of chart indicate Right Side rows, and at left edge Wrong Side rows.

Read Right Side rows from right to left, Wrong Side rows from left to right.

The pattern repeat = 8 stitches wide.

Repeat the pattern between edge stitches throughout.

k: Knit

p: Purl

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together as one

ssk: slip one stitch as if to knit, slip another stitch as if to knit. Insert left-hand needle into front of these 2 stitches and knit them together

p2tog: purl 2 stitches together as one

p2tog tbl: purl two stitches together as one stitch through the back loop 

Row 1 (right side): edge stitch, * yo, k1, yo, ssk, k5 *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.

Row 2 (wrong side): edge stitch, * p4, p2tog tbl, p3 *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.

Row 3: edge stitch, * yo, k1, yo, k2, ssk, k3 *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.

Row 4: edge stitch, * p2, p2tog tbl, p5 *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.

Row 5: edge stitch, * k1, yo, k4, ssk, k1, yo *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.

Row 6: edge stitch, * p1, p2tog tbl, p6 *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.

Row 7: edge stitch, * k5, k2tog, yo, k1, yo *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.

Row 8: edge stitch, * p3, p2tog, p4 *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.

Row 9: edge stitch, * k3, k2tog, k2, yo, k1, yo *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.

Row 10: edge stitch, * p5, p2tog, p2 *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.
