Hexagon – Geometric Knitting Pattern

Work with a multiple of 8 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 19 stitches (4 + 8 + 5 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to сhart.

The chart shows Right Side rows and Wrong Side Rows.

The numbers at right edge of chart indicate Right Side Rows, and at left edge Wrong Side Rows.

Read Right Side Rows from right to left, Wrong Side Rows from left to right.

The pattern repeat = 8 stitches wide.

k: Knit

p: Purl

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together as one

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch 

p2tog: purl 2 stitches together as one

p2tog tbl: purl two stitches together as one stitch through the back loop

cddp (Central Double Decrease from the Wrong Side): transpose the order of the first and second stitch on the left needle; then purl the three stitches togetheropping from left-hand needle, purl first, drop both stitches from left-hand needle together

Rows 1, 3 and 5 (right side): edge stitch, k3, p1, * k1, p1, k5, p1 *; repeat from * to *; k1, p1, k3, edge stitch.

Rows 2 and 4 (wrong side): edge stitch, p3, k1, p1, * k1, p5, k1, p1 *; repeat from * to *; k1, p3, edge stitch.

Row 6: edge stitch, p2, p2tog tbl, yo, p1, * yo, p2tog, p3, p2tog tbl, yo, p1 *; repeat from * to *; yo, p2tog, p2, edge stitch.

Row 7: edge stitch, k1, k2tog, yo, k1, * k2, yo, skpo, k1, k2tog, yo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; k2, yo, skpo, k1, edge stitch.
