How to knit Heart Stitch:

Work with multiple of 26 stitches + 10 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 38 sts (3 + 26 + 7 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only Right Side rows.

On Wrong Side rows, work all sts as they appear.

The patt rep = 26 sts wide.

Begin with 1 Wrong Side Row.

C4F: slip 2 sts to cable needle, hold to front, K2, K2 from cable needle

C4B: slip 2 sts to cable needle, hold to back, K2, K2 from cable needle

C4Fp: slip 2 sts to cable needle, hold to front, P2, K2 from cable needle

C4Bp: slip 2 sts to cable needle, hold to back, K2, P2 from cable needle

2/1p Right Cross: slip 1 st to cable needle, hold to back, K2, P1 from cable needle

2/1P Left Cross: slip 2 sts to cable needle, hold to front, P1, K2 from cable needle

Set-up Row 0 (WS): edge st, k3, p4, * k7, p8, k7, p4 *, repeat from * to *, ending with k3, edge st.

Row 1 (RS): edge st, p3, * C4B, p7, C4B, C4F, p7 *, repeat from * to *, ending with C4B, p3, edge st.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (WS): work each stitch as it appears on this side of work (k the k sts and p the p sts).

Row 3: edge st, p3, * k4, p5, C4Bp, k4, C4Fp, p5 *, repeat from * to *, ending with k4, p3, edge st.

Row 5: edge st, p3, * C4B, p4, 2/1p Right Cross, p2, C4B, p2, 2/1P Left Cross, p4 *, repeat from * to *, ending with C4B, p3, edge st.

Row 7: edge st, p3, * k4, p3, 2/1p Right Cross, p3, k4, p3, 2/1P Left Cross, p3, repeat from * to *, ending with k4, p3, edge st.

Row 9: edge st, p3, * C4B, p3, k2, p4, C4B, p4, k2, p3 *, repeat from * to *, ending with C4B, p3, edge st.

Row 11: edge st, p3, * k4, p3, C4Fp, C4B, C4F, C4Bp, p3 *, repeat from * to *, ending with k4, p3, edge st.

Work Rows 0-12 once, then repeat Rows 3-12 throughout.
