How to knit Fancy Stitch:

Multiple of 8 + 1 + 2 selvage sts.

Cast on 19 sts (8 + 8 + 1 + 2 selv sts) and work according to chart. 

RS row and WS row are shown.

Read RS row from right to left, WS row from left to right.

The pat rep = 8 sts wide.

Rows 1 and 3: selv st (edge st), * K1, P3, K1, P3, repeat from *, end with K1 and selv st.

Rows 2 and 4: selv st, P1, * K3, P1, K3, P1, repeat from *, selv st.

Row 5: selv st, * K1, skip P3 on the left, insert right needle in stitch in the 4th row below and pull out loop, P3, K1, P3, repeat from *, end with K1 and selv st.

Row 6: selv st, P1, * K3, P1, K3, P2tog (= purl 2 stitches together), repeat from *, selv st.

Row 7: selv st, * K1, skip P3 on the left, insert right needle in stitch in the 6th row below and pull out loop, P3, K1, P3, repeat from *, end with K1 and selv st.

Row 8: selv st, P1, * K3, P1, K3, P2tog, repeat from *, selv st.

Row 9: selv st, * K1, P3, K1, P3, repeat from *, end with K1 and selv st.

Row 10: selv st, P1, * K3, P1, K3, P1, repeat from *, selv st.

Row 11: selv st, * K1, P3, K1, P3, skip P3 on the right, insert left needle in stitch in the 4th row below and pull out loop, repeat from *, end with K1 and selv st.

Row 12: selv st, P2tog tbl (= purl two stitches together in back loops, inserting needle from the left, behind and into the backs of the 2nd & 1st stitches in that order), * K3, P1, K3, P2tog tbl, repeat from *, K3, P1, K3, P1, selv st.

Row 13: selv st, * K1, P3, K1, P3, skip P3 on the right, insert left needle in stitch in the 6th row below and pull out loop, repeat from *, end with K1 and selv st.

Row 14: selv st, P2tog tbl, * K3, P1, K3, P2tog tbl, repeat from *, K3, P1, K3, P1, selv st.

Work rows 1-14 once, then rep rows 3-14 throughout.
