How to knit Fancy Stitch:
Work with a multiple of 8 stitches + 2 edge stitches.
Cast on 10 stitches (8 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.
The chart shows only Right Side Rows.
On Wrong Side Rows, purl all the stitches.
The pattern repeat = 8 stitches wide.
Repeat the pattern between edge stitches throughout.
Abbreviation:
k: knit stitch
p: purl stitch
loop&k2tog: Insert needle between 3rd and 2nd sts and pull out loop, K2tog through the back loop
Written Instructions:
Row 1 (right side): edge stitch, * k6, loop&k2tog *; repeat from * to *; end with the edge stitch.
Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): Purl.
Row 3: edge stitch, * k5, loop&k2tog, p1 *; repeat from * to *; end with the edge stitch.
Row 5: edge stitch, * k4, loop&k2tog, p2 *; repeat from * to *; end with the edge stitch.
Row 7: edge stitch, * k3, loop&k2tog, p3 *; repeat from * to *; end with the edge stitch.
Row 9: edge stitch, * k2, loop&k2tog, p4 *; repeat from * to *; end with the edge stitch.
Row 11: edge stitch, * k1, loop&k2tog, p5 *; repeat from * to *; end with the edge stitch.
Row 13: edge stitch, * loop&k2tog, p6 *; repeat from * to *; end with the edge stitch.
Repeat Rows 1-14 throughout.
