How to knit the Simple Stitch:
Work with a multiple of 14 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.
Cast on 17 stitches (14 + 1 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.
The chart shows only Right Side Rows.
On Wrong Side Rows, purl all stitches.
The pattern repeat = 14 stitches wide.
Begin with 1 edge stitch, work patt rep throughout, end with 1 stitch after patt rep and 1 edge stitch.

k: Knit
p: Purl
Written Instructions:
Rows 1, 3 and 5 (right side): edge stitch, * p3, k4, p1, k4, p2 *; repeat from * to *; end with p1, edge stitch.
Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): Purl.
Row 7: edge stitch, * p1, k1, p2, k3, p1, k3, p2, k1 *; repeat from * to *; end with p1, edge stitch.
Row 9: edge stitch, * p1, k2, p2, k2, p1, k2, p2, k2 *; repeat from * to *; end with p1, edge stitch.
Row 11: edge stitch, * p1, k3, p2, k1, p1, k1, p2, k3 *; repeat from * to *; end with p1, edge stitch.
Rows 13, 15 and 17: edge stitch, * p1, k4, p5, k4 *; repeat from * to *; end with p1, edge stitch.
Repeat Rows 1-18 throughout.
