How to knit the Simple Stitch:
Work with a multiple of 16 stitches + 10 + 2 edge stitches.
Cast on 28 stitches (16 + 10 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.
The chart shows only Right Side Rows.
On Wrong Side Rows, purl all stitches.
The pattern repeat = 16 stitches wide.
Begin with 1 edge stitch, work patt rep throughout, end with 10 stitch after patt rep and 1 edge stitch.
Abbreviation:
k: Knit
p: Purl
Written Instructions:
Rows 1 and 3 (right side): edge stitch, * p10, k6 *; repeat from * to *; end with p10, edge stitch.
Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): Purl.
Rows 5, 7, 9, 15, 17 and 19: edge stitch, * p2, k6, p2, k6 *; repeat from * to *; end with p2, k6, p2, edge stitch.
Rows 11 and 13: edge stitch, * p2, k6, p8 *; repeat from * to *; end with p2, k6, p2, edge stitch.
Repeat Rows 1 through 20 for pattern.
